About Us

Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.

Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.

About the Role

As an Electrical Engineer in Harmattan AI’s new GCS (Ground Control System) module, you will lead the design, prototyping, and integration of the electronics that power our custom-built remote controllers for UAVs. You’ll play a critical role in shaping the architecture of a rugged, high-performance, mission-ready system.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype PCBs for handheld control stations, ensuring high reliability, low latency, and efficient power management.

  • Integrate a wide range of components (displays, joysticks, communication modules, antennas, batteries) into a robust and compact design.

  • Define system-level electrical architecture including wiring, interconnects, and shielding for electromagnetic compatibility.

  • Collaborate with mechanical and embedded software engineers to ensure seamless integration across the hardware stack.

  • Select and manage suppliers for key electrical components and oversee board fabrication and assembly.

  • Conduct extensive testing, including thermal, EMI/EMC, and field validation, ensuring operational performance in harsh environments.

  • Document designs and iterate quickly from prototyping to production-ready systems.

Candidate Requirements

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Proven experience in designing embedded systems, ideally for handheld or ruggedized equipment.

  • Strong PCB design experience (Altium or equivalent), including high-speed digital and analog circuits.

  • Knowledge of RF integration, EMI shielding, and power systems (batteries, charging, power regulation).

  • Bonus: Experience working with military or mission-critical communication systems.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work autonomously and solve complex technical challenges.

  • Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of leading diverse principals – from junior members to senior executives.

  • Commitment: 100% dedication to Harmattan AI’s mission, vision, and ambitious growth plans, ready to go the extra mile to ensure operational excellence.

We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
