Hi there! 👋

🐼 About us

WeWard is the app that rewards you for walking and turns everyday steps into real-life rewards, connections, & positive impact!

Our mission is to help people move more, feel better, and make movement meaningful.

Today, we are trusted by 25M+ users worldwide, with a fast-growing, international team and offices in Paris and New York.

Our ambition is to build the world’s leading movement-and-rewards platform, scaling globally while using technology, data, and smart incentives to drive lasting behavior change and wellbeing at scale.

🎯 About the role

Seniority level: Apprenticeship / Junior — no professional experience required, strong interest in backend engineering and eagerness to learn on a large-scale system

Context of the search:
WeWard is entering an exciting new phase of growth, evolving far beyond a simple step counter with several ambitious initiatives on the horizon. You’ll be joining the Monetization squad, where you’ll play a key role in building our game offerwall provider mediation engine.

You will report to Ivan, our Engineering Manager on the Monetization squad.

Main missions (day-to-day):

  • Contribute to developing reliable, maintainable backend code (APIs, scripts, processing), pairing with senior engineers

  • Take part in A/B tests to measure the impact of shipped features

  • Contribute to end-to-end projects, with support on scoping and production release

  • Build skills in code optimization and identifying bottlenecks

Mainly Python (Flask) and Postgres — the drive to learn how to design scalable architecture matters more than prior mastery of a specific language.

Expectations for the role:

  • Genuine technical curiosity and eagerness to learn on a large-scale product

  • Growing autonomy, with rigor in the code you produce

  • Ability to ask questions, challenge ideas, and propose new ones (Test & Learn mindset)

  • Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with PMs and other engineers in the squad

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant program (engineering school, computer science, or equivalent) on an apprenticeship track

  • Test & Learn culture: 10+ production deployments a week, direct exposure to the impact of your work
