Thermo-optical properties: absorptivity, emissivity, solar absorptance — application to extreme thermal environments
Technical textiles & sewing: stitching design, seam assembly, reinforcement patterns — a significant asset
Regulatory awareness: basic understanding of aerospace traceability, configuration control, and documentation rigor (EN 9100 / Part 21 context) — will be developed on the job.
Leadership & Professional competencies
Technical authority: comfortable making material/process decisions under uncertainty; able to defend rationale to regulators and auditors
Supplier management: contract negotiation, audit protocols, quality improvement
Mentorship: ability to teach junior engineers, provide constructive feedback, and develop technical competence in the team
Strategic thinking: long-term material roadmap, cost-quality-schedule trade-offs, supply-chain risk, technology positioning
Documentation: clear technical writing, traceability discipline, revision strategy, natural alignment with QMS rigor.
Education & Experience
Engineering degree (Bac+5 equivalent) in materials science, polymers, or textiles; or equivalent hands-on experience in aerospace, space, medical device, or advanced packaging roles
8+ years in soft polymer materials and/or welding process development
Experience with exposure to a regulated environment (aerospace, space, medical) is required
Leadership: 3+ years in a technical leadership or domain-lead role (mentoring, design authority, supplier management)
Preferred background: aerospace, space, balloons, technical textiles, medical (welded pouches), or technical packaging roles.

Zephalto
